Apple Ragi Porridge

The vitamin C in steamed apple can help the body absorb iron from plant foods like ragi, while adding natural sweetness with no added sugar.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Sprouted Ragi Cereal
  • 150 ml Warm water (or expressed breast milk / formula — not cow’s milk under 1 year)
  • 1–2 tbsp Steamed & mashed apple

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Steamer
  • Whisk
  • Feeding bowl

Method

  1. Steam the apple Steam peeled apple pieces until soft, then mash to a smooth purée.
  2. Cook the porridge Whisk the ragi cereal into warm liquid and simmer on low for 2 minutes, stirring.
  3. Combine & serve Stir the apple purée through the warm porridge. Cool to a safe temperature and serve.

Serving

Serve fresh and warm. Use well-ripened apple for natural sweetness — no sugar needed.
